First SpaceX Block 5 launch confirmed
Thales Alenia Space confirmed to AmericaSpace today that their Bangabandhu-1 satellite will be launching on SpaceX's first 'Block-5' Falcon 9 rocket. The date is currently planned for NET April 24th, later than people had anticipated. The date was originally the first week of April, but slipped a few weeks back due to SpaceX running additional tests on the Block-5 first stage. Launch of Iridium-5 slips due to satellite issue
Originally, Iridium-5 was supposed to be launched by SpaceX on their Falcon 9 rocket on March 29th at 7:19am PST, but has been pushed back a couple days. Matt Desch, CEO of Iridium, tweeted that they are having an issue with one of the ten satellites being launched and are resetting the date to NET March 31st at 7:08am PST (10:08am EST). SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket successfully lifted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida at 12:33am EST carrying the Hispasat 30W-6 satellite into a Geostationary Transfer Orbit.
